Interested in
Joe will be focusing on Children and Young Adult Literature; he has a particular regard for the "smart" middle-grade novel. Another interest is adult genre fiction, especially fantasy and Science Fiction. He is very interested in working with writer-artists on graphic novels or picture books, and is also interested in work which portray cultural diversity. He loves work that breaks new ground, has a fresh perspective or subverts the accepted paradigm by looking at in in a new or unexpected way.

October, 2013: Joe Monti is no longer an active literary agent. He has left Barry Goldblatt LLC to take a position at Simon & Schuster, which plans to increase its presence in the science fiction, fantasy, and horror markets with the creation of a new imprint dedicated to the genres. Joe Monti has been named executive editor of the new imprint.
