Fiction email query: cover letter including submission genre, description; author biography and first 3 sample chapters. (Attachments are acceptable.)

Non-fiction email query: submit a full proposal. (Attachments are acceptable.)
Interested in
Fiction for adults:  contemporary romance, contemporary women's fiction, literary fiction, 20th-century historical fiction, fantasy, magical realism, science fiction.

Fiction for younger readers:  full length novels only in mystery, thriller, horror, romance, contemporary fiction, sports, magical realism, fantasy, and science fiction.

Nonfiction:  books from writers with established platforms in sports, food, humor, design, creativity, and crafts; also, narrative nonfiction by authors with or without an established platform, and some memoir.
Not interested in
Ms. McKean is not interested in mysteries, thrillers, crime, paranormal romance, or urban fantasy for adults.

She is not interested in books for young readers about dragons, angels, demons, werewolves, vampires, zombies, wacky adventures, bullying, or orphans.  No picture books or chapter books.

She is not interested in nonfiction about cancer survival, drug addiction, mental health, infertility, or other topics commonly covered by current memoir.
